James William "Jay"  Hancock
James William Hancock (Jay), 81 of 1237 Oakland Road Forest City passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital after a brief illness. James was born on May 22, 1937 in Rutherford County. He was a member of Adaville Baptist Church.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Turner Hancock; daughter, Kathy Hancock Carver (Robert); 3 grandsons: Keith (Nicole), Kevin, & Jonathon (Jamie); 5 great grandchildren: Molly, Ava, Waylon, Willow & Weston.

James was a graduate of R.S. Central High School. James worked as a technician at Stonecutter Mills for 43 years. He loved his family and spending time with them. He always put others in front of himself. Hobbies included classic cars, pitching horse shoes, and anything that allowed him to spend time with his family. His latest venture was renovating houses.

A celebration of Life will be held in the Parlor at Adaville Baptist Church, 809 Oakland Road, Spindale, NC on Thursday, May 16th from 5-7PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to individual’s favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.crowemortuary.com.
