Charlie Madison Morris was born on February 27, 1931 in Rutherford County, NC to the late William Morris, Sr. and Louise Hamilton Morris. He departed this life on October 18, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC.

Charlie received his formal education in Rutherford County, attending a one room school called ‘Little Mountain’ and graduating from New Hope High School in 1950. He joined the US Army in January of 1953 and he fought in the Korean War.

Charlie grew up in a Christian home and spent his early years attending New Salem Methodist Church. After he married, he affiliated with Gold Hill Baptist Church. While attending Gold Hill he held a variety of positions; Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Bible School Worker. He faithfully attended Gold Hill until his health prevented it.

Charlie and Mamie were high school friends and they were married on May 27, 1956. He was a devoted husband for 63 years and to this union they were blessed with a loving daughter. He was a faithful friend, neighbor and caregiver for his younger brother, Eural Morris and his wife, Mamie Morris. Charlie loved spending time outside with Nature and he especially enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. During his working years, Charlie worked in the textile industry at Stonecutter Mills, J.C. Cowan- Burlington, and General Fireproofing. After he retired, he worked as a Custodian at Rutherfordton-Spindale High School.

Charlie read his Bible and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the Scripture with everyone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Morris, his parents William Morris, Sr. and Louise Hamilton Morris, his five brothers, Walter Morris, Norman Morris, Oric Morris, William Morris, Jr and Eural Morris and two sisters Dovie Faye Robinson and Mary Ruth Nesbitt. Three sisters, Hattie Abrams (Robert) of Spindale, NC, Estelle Abrams (Lemmie) of Tryon, NC and Marilene Morris of Concord, NC and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
