Charles Edgar Bridges Jr., 86, of Forest City, NC went home to be with his Lord on November 2, 2019. Charles was the son of the late Charles Edgar Bridges, Sr. and Linnie Robertson Bridges, and the husband to the late Rev. Frances Hall Bridges. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kathy (Billy) Hutchins, and son, Mike (Billie Jo) Bridges; grandchildren Jessica (Garland) Shelton, Jill (Brian) King, Billy Jr. (Christi) Hutchins, Denise Bradley, Casey (Jeff) Higley, Jason Bridges, Katie (Edmund) McDaniel, Nicholas (Shannon) Bridges, Ashley (Michael) Fernandez, London (Robert) Hollifield, Brook (Trey) Wright; 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Colleen Hall, Jean Cook, Garland Bridges, and Dean Bridges. In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by his son, Tony Bridges, and his siblings Leroy Bridges, Gladys Gosnell, James Bridges, Mildred Terry, Betty Kirby, Fred Bridges, and Nell Johnson.
Charles was a member of New Covenant Church of God in Ellenboro. He loved to fish, watch NASCAR, and football. He retired from a career as a long haul truck driver and loved spending time with his family and his two dogs, Bruiser and Scooter. He also served in the Army National Guard.
Services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Lankford and Rev. Leroy Bridges Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Spindale City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 5:00PM-7:00PM. Online condolences may be made at www.crowemortuary.com.
